We are most appreciative of all the support we receive from members and friends of our congregation and parish,
especially at this very difficult time.

Dunlop is a small, friendly village in rural Ayrshire.
We are United with Caldwell, in Uplawmoor, East Renfrewshire as Caldwell and Dunlop Parish Church of Scotland.

We in Dunlop Kirk feel that our church is at the heart of the community.
We have a long and proud history of loving and serving the people of our parish, which also includes the communities of Burnhouse, Lugton, Newmill and the Halket.
Continue to pray - for our communities - people of all ages.
For all those whose lives and occupations are disrupted, and who are struggling with financial uncertainty.
For those who are working to maintain supply chains, and essential services. For our civic and religious leaders.
For all those who work in healthcare - in whatever capacity.
For researchers and scientists who are continuing to create treatments and vaccines.

Keep caring for each other, as I know you are.
Please pass on my words here to anyone you know is not on-line.
Peace, and hope, and love be with you all,
Alison

Rev Alison McBrier,
Minister.

Dear friends and neighbours,

As you all know, so much has changed since the March issue of Dunlop Diary. The coronavirus crisis has meant that much of what we usually do has stopped happening altogether, or has changed significantly.

The main aim of this issue of Dunlop Diary is to keep you informed about local information sources, and to make sure we are all able to keep communicating with each other. So, this month, we are going to KISS.
Please don’t be alarmed/get excited *, as that means we’re going to Keep It Short and Simple!

I know that some of you do not have access to the internet. It is really important  that we keep in touch with each other just now, so please make use of the  Church Contacts provided below.  We can put you in contact with neighbours, East Ayrshire Council or local organisations who can provide support to you. That support includes, and is not limited to, practical help with shopping, delivery of medicines and supplies, or simply a chat.

If you would like to be part of the local network of neighbours offering help to each other, then please print the Community Cards. (See April Dunlop Diary).
These will be particularly helpful in the more rural areas, where broadband and mobile access is patchy at best. Be particularly careful to print and deliver with clean hands, while out on your daily permitted walk for exercise. If possible phone neighbours instead of delivering a card.

If you are not sure about anyone who comes to your door offering to help, especially if they ask for money or say they are carrying out tests, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. Similarly, if anyone phones asking for personal or financial information, do not provide that information.
We want to make sure we are all safe.

If you do have internet access, please join local Facebook pages, where you will find familiar faces, and lots of helpful information, support and advice. Facebook really is the place to be right now.

If you do have internet access, but aren’t confident using it, or are having problems, IT help is available and you’ll find contact details in this Diary. Then, get on Facebook!

Future issues of Dunlop Diary will be made widely available on-line. If you can’t get on-line and need to get a paper copy, please phone Douglas Bell who will arrange to have a copy posted to you.

The Church and Church Hall are closed until further notice. We are very sad not to be able to meet in our buildings, but as we want to keep ourselves safe we can’t get together until all this is over.
However, if you can get on-line, you can join the Facebook congregation of Cat Tree Church or the website  Cat Tree Church and we can worship together while we’re apart.
If not on-line, contact Rev Alison McBrier and she’ll do her best to get you involved in whatever way is possible.

We are living in strange and difficult times. However, we are blessed to live in such a strong, loving and caring community.
God is with us in times of joy and sorrow, he shares our load, and gives us rest.

We give thanks and pray especially for everyone who is working so hard to keep society functioning, and for our dedicated and brave NHS staff.

Peace, faith, love and hope to you all,
your Parish Minister,

Alison
